This fully automated market, which is open around the clock, is located in Renningen station and offers a range of everyday items. The new store was developed in collaboration with Deutsche Bahn and the start-up Smark and is part of the "Renningen station of the future" project with a futuristic design made from old shipping containers.
The vending machine store is the first of its kind for the EDEKA Südwest Group. With a store concept like this, "anything is possible", as store owner
as store owner Gisela Karow-Schäfer puts it. Back-of-house robots handle the orders, which are placed via an app on the customer's cell phone or via a touchscreen in the store, while customers also receive freshly brewed coffee and hot baked goods in the store. The hardware is supplied by checkout specialist Pyramid Computer GmbH.
