Reliable in car washes & car washes

DRB Systems supplies car washes and car wash facilities in the U.S. with 15-inch and 21.5-inch outdoor terminals (OTT). The high-brightness touch PCs from faytech® are ideal for both outdoor and indoor use in demanding environments. This makes the devices the top choice for DRB.

At the terminals, customers in the parking lot or employees at the car wash tunnel select the desired cleaning program. The equipment is exposed to the elements as well as to the wash water, which contains chemicals.

As an OEM , we adapted the product to the specific requirements of DRB Systems: To ensure smooth continuous operation, we provided the powder-coated aluminum chassis of the touch PCs with full IP65 protection, which also covers the power button and the I/O ports for peripheral devices. Since there was too great a risk that a plastic seal would degrade under the influence of chemical additives in the wash water, we sealed the front and rear panels of the solution by bonding them.

The optical bonding between the touch panel and the LCD panel plays a key role in achieving perfect IP65 protection. It effectively prevents the ingress of splashes and the formation of condensation. In addition, the manufacturing process enhances the display’s sharpness and color brilliance.

As one of the world’s leading display specialists, faytech® operates a state-of-the-art optical bonding production facility in Huizhou, China. We use CLEAR-BOND, a proprietary and patented formulation developed in-house.

To ensure that the screen content remains clearly legible even in bright sunlight, the OTT’s LCD display has a luminance of 1, 000 nits (cd/m²). The display is covered with 2.2 mm thick safety glass, which provides additional protection against the elements and splashes.

But that's not all: The glass, which has a hardness rating of 7, has been treated with a special coating that minimizes fingerprints and light reflections. A particularly important feature for DRB's customers and employees: The device can be operated even while wearing gloves, and it ignores so-called "ghost touches"—which are caused by water droplets on standard capacitive-projective touchscreens.
